On day 1, we offered a series of creative workshops that explore what makes life worth living for young people today. Participants joined us for a communal lunch in grand auditorium.
On day 2, we hosted an evening of performances, installations and workshops from some of the most exciting local artists in the city.
Developed and presented in partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University as part of the Greater Manchester Living Youth Charter of Rights.(GMLYCR).
GRAPHIC ENCOUNTERS WORKSHOP

Join illustrator and comic artist Jamie Squire for a day-long workshop exploring some of the fundamentals of creating comics and narratives. Plus, how to use these skills to make work which encourages discussion and helps break the stigma surrounding mental health. Beginners welcome. Let’s draw!
REFORM RADIO
PODCAST CLINIC
Award-winning local digital radio station Reform Radio hosted a podcast clinic, offering a chance to have your voice heard. They asked for responses or questions exploring the theme of ‘what is the value of a life’.
Recordings made through the podcast clinic were used as part of the Takeover event on 5th October and planned for use in future work with Reform Radio, SICK! Festival, Creative Arena and the MMU Greater Manchester Living Youth Charter of Rights.

SIGN OF THE TIMES
Sign of The Times is a free workshop with artist Bernadette Russell & Rob Kennedy.
Participants were invited to answer the question, ‘what do you want?’ through the time-honoured medium of the placard, humble bearer of political protest and retail discount offers in our cities. The placards were on public display, anonymously and collectively demonstrating our desires.

OH EK! it’s a comedy workshop! Manchester based sketch group OH EK! delivered a fun and alternative exploration into what makes life worth living for young people today and looking at the question what is the value of a life?
