Hello Hollow

JULIAN HETZEL (NL/DE)

PUBLIC INSTALLATION

UK PREMIERE

17-18/03/17 – POP-UP LOCATIONS AROUND MANCHESTER

With Hello Hollow Julian Hetzel positions uncanny figures, apparently formed of detritus, within urban settings. A group of ephemeral human like sculptures hang out on benches and seats, inscrutable, powerful yet fragile.

The presence of these dark and anthropomorph creatures generates an interference in the public space – the sculptures are visual obstacles threatening our own significance within the public realm. In Hetzel’s installation black plastic foil is used to creating a disturbing dialogue on the present and the absent.
