Opportunity: Could you be a SICK! board member?
WELCOME
Thank you for your interest in joining SICK!’s Board of Trustees.
This is an exciting moment for us at SICK!, and we are thrilled to invite passionate, forward-thinking individuals to join our Board.
With our unwavering focus on mental and physical health, disability, inequality, and social change, our work has never been more relevant. We are proud of the growing impact we’re making locally and globally, and this is being recognised by our partners and funders who are investing in our long-term vision for the future. Including Arts Council England who have committed to investing in our work as a National Portfolio Organisation 2023-2027.
Our new Business Plan, launching in 2025, aims to builds on the momentum generated by our recent Festival, ‘Where’s the Media Now..?’ which for the first time in our history was presented entirely within the often overlooked North Manchester areas of Moston, Harpurhey and Charlestown. Showcasing a unique programme of work by local, national and international artists, engaging with concerns that are affecting the health of our communities.
This festival, under SICK!’s new leadership, marked a pivotal moment in our journey as we deepen our commitment to engaging with pressing societal issues and sparking meaningful conversations. Now, we are looking to expand our Board of Trustees to help guide us through this next chapter and ensure that we continue to grow and thrive. Building on our small but dedicated Board membership, currently consisting of:
- Christine D’Cruz – Chair. Founding trustee of the Basement, the Southeast arts venue that later founded SICK! Productions Ltd, recently retired as Chair of Same Sky and Director of Healthwatch
- Paul Russ, Artistic Director/CEO of Fabric Dance.
- Eddie Berg, Director of 3LD INC (New York) and Founding Director of FACT (Liverpool).
We are looking to recruit 3 trustees with skills in one or more of the following areas:
- Professionally qualified in finance/accountancy.
- Practicing legal knowledge and expertise, ideally in employment law.
- Experience with the policies and practices of safeguarding.
As an organisation, we are committed to ensuring our Board reflects the diversity of the communities we serve. We are actively encouraging applications from people facing racism, those who identify as LGBTQIA+, individuals from lower socio-economic backgrounds, and those with disabilities. We would also welcome applications from people with connections to Moston, Harpurhey, and Charlestown.
Join us and play a crucial role in shaping the future of SICK! as we continue our mission to challenge perceptions, inspire action, and bring about real change. We look forward to hearing from you.
Christine D’Cruz
