No Us and Them
‘No Us and Them’ is a creative dance project celebrating social unity. It is choreographed by participants from across North Manchester guided by Company Chameleon who make inspiring dance theatre, by working with each other’s ideas and skills together to create a final outdoor performance in Harpurhey Shopping Precinct.
Looking at fractures, communication, and connection within communities as a starting point, ‘No Us and Them’, is a project that will evolve over weekly sessions based on the discussions, movements and contributions from the North Manchester people involved, and at its heart, celebrates finding the common ground with each other.
Push
Company Chameleon will also be showing their seminal dance piece ‘Push’ – An exploration of the quality of touch and its physical and emotional resonance. Athletic yet sensitive, the work continues a conversation that began in childhood between artists Anthony Missen and Kevin Edward Turner.
Artist bio:
Company Chameleon are a dance theatre group who make original, inspiring performances across the UK and the world. Founded by Anthony Missen and Kevin Edward Turner in the late 1990’s, two ordinary lads from Manchester who shared a dream of dancing professionally. They have toured internationally and staged 50 indoor and outdoor performances.
Wherever they perform, they lead a dance class or a workshop, and as a result, we have introduced thousands of young people, from countries all over the world, to a different side of dance and movement.
