We are looking for 6 people to participate in the creation and presentation of Ejaculation Falls, exploring their experiences or inexperiences of sex and pleasure.
For two weeks in May, performance-maker and director Essi Rossi will work with the group to shape a new performance that will be co-presented by SICK! Festival and the Sexuality Summer School (University of Manchester) in the week commencing 23rd May.
We are seeking 6 people:
• Of all ages, 18 to anything
• With a wide range of gender identities
• With different sexual identities and experiences
• From different social, cultural and economic backgrounds
The word ejaculation means both sexual climax and a sudden, emotional burst of words, a desire to be heard. Ejaculation Falls is a performance where a group of people gather together to celebrate sexual diversity. It is an opportunity to share things regarding sex and sexuality that are often hidden or silenced in public discourse. A dialogue made up of different experiences, the performance leads its viewers to the other side of norms and collective notions. It invites us to examine sexuality’s power and various dimensions, to give new words to the ways in which we speak about sexuality. Ejaculation Falls is a place for questions, change, and the realisation of a more sex-positive world.
Participants will be required to attend rehearsals between 9th and 24th May, and to take part in performances during the week commencing 23rd May. The process follows safe space guidelines, which the group will establish together at the start of the process. The work consists of interviews with the performers, mutual discussions, and stage work, all of which will take into account the performers’ histories, experiences and perspectives. We especially encourage non-binary and gender-diverse people of all ages, trans and cis-women to apply. Performances and rehearsals will be held in accessible locations.
Participants do not need to have previous experience of performing. The process will be supported by an experienced Sex Therapist. We offer those taking part a stipend of £500.
THIS CALL OUT IS NOW CLOSED. THANK YOU TO ALL WHO APPLIED.
